Ingredients:
- 2 slices of your favorite bread (white, whole wheat, sourdough, etc.)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 2 slices of cheese (Cheddar, American, Swiss, or a combination)
Instructions:
- Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. Ensure the butter covers the surface to the edges to achieve an evenly toasted crust.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place one slice of bread, buttered side down, into the skillet.
- Lay the cheese slices on top of the bread in the skillet, ensuring the cheese does not overlap the edges of the bread.
- Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side up.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottom slice is golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the sandwich over and cook for another 2-3 minutes, pressing down lightly with a spatula, until the second side is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
- Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it rest for 1 minute before cutting it in half. Serve hot.
